Little Magic Train - Creative Movement (Ages 2.5-3)
Join us for a magical ride with Thomas The Train! In this 45 minute class, students will have opportunities to develop their creativity, discover the importance of music appreciation and learn to follow directions in a structured and fun environment.
Pre-Primary Ballet (Ages 4-5)
In this 45 minute class, students will be introduced to ballet. A strong emphasis will be placed on musicality, imagination and love of movement. This class strives to encourage self-awareness, self-confidence and co-ordination.
Primary Ballet (Ages 6-7)
Students will expand their knowledge of basic ballet steps in this 45 minute class. Differentiating between simple movement patterns, and combining movement qualities with music will be emphasized. Rhythm and physical co-ordination are the main focus.
Cecchetti Ballet Syllabus
Upon completion of pre-school and primary classes, students will begin training in the syllabus set by the Cecchetti Council of America. This is a graded ballet syllabus based on the work of the Italian Ballet Master Enrico Cecchetti. Students who wish to study these grades require a serious interest in classical ballet. Examinations are offered at the end of each grade.
Grade I: one hour classes twice per week
Grades II, III and IV: one hour and fifteen minute classes twice per week required
Grades V and VI: two hour classes twice per week required, with an additional one hour pointe class
Pointe classes are available to students in Grade III and higher, who are at least twelve years of age.
Lyrical and Contemporary
Students who have reached grade II and higher of the Cecchetti Ballet syllabus will be introduced to elements of lyrical and contemporary movement. These dance forms offer the combination of ballet and jazz technique to develop strength, control and flexibility. Students will learn to express the mood or theme of contemporary music through movement.
Adult Ballet
In this 1 hour class you will learn the foundations of classical ballet. Tailored specifically for the adult body, students will develop better posture, control of the muscles and discover the secrets of getting that "ballet body." Students will participate in barre exercises, centre work, across the floor, and stretch and conditioning exercises. No experience required!
